Geared continuous hinges

Material

Hinges are manufactured from 6063 T6 aluminum alloy with thermoplastic polyester bearings.

Length

Hinge lengths available in 83", 85", 95", and 120" (excluding Toilet Partition hinges).  SELECT hinges are normally 1" shorter than actual opening height.  The SL60 and SL62 Toilet Partition hinges are available in 57".  Custom lengths available. 

Load/Frequency Rating For 1-3/4" doors except where noted.  48" max. door width in 16 gauge hollow metal (min.) or 1/8" aluminum (min.).  Frequency of use and door weight determine the hinge duty needed.  SELECT Geared Continuous Hinge model numbers indicate appropriate hinge duty.

• Standard Duty [SD] Tested per BHMA standards for medium-frequency doors up to 200 lb. without frame or door reinforcement.
• Heavy Duty [HD] Tested per BHMA standards.  Up to 200 lb. doors (high-frequency) and up to 400 lb. doors (medium-frequency) without frame or door reinforcement; up to 600 lb. doors (low-frequency) with the use of Rivnuts in the frame and door.
• Heavy Duty [LL] Our HD hinge with additional fastener holes for low-frequency doors up to 1,000 lb., including most lead-lined doors.  Rivnuts are recommended in the frame and door on extremely high, extremely heavy or wide doors.

Bronze - Architectural Class I

Clear - Architectural Class II

All hinges are stocked in clear (CL) and .7 mil dark bronze (BR) anodized finishes. Custom anodized or painted finishes are available. NOTE: Product painted in the field voids the SELECT hinge warranty.

Fire rating

Patented 3-hr. Underwriters Laboratories rating available without fire pins or studs, tested to meet the Positive and Negative pressure requirements of UL10B and UL10C, and in accordance with UBC 7.2 (1997).  Available on all SELECT Aluminum Geared Continuous Hinges except SL38 (90-minute rated only) and Toilet Partition hinges.

Warranty

All geared hinges are covered by our never-ending Continuous Warranty to be free of defects in material and workmanship.

Pin & Barrel continuous hinges

Material

SL200

Hinges are manufactured from 14-gauge 1012 carbon steel with self-lubricating nylon bearings and 1/4" 304 stainless steel pin.

SL300 series

Hinges are manufactured from 14-gauge 304 stainless steel with self-lubricating nylon bearings and 1/4" 304 stainless steel pin. Exterior barrel diameter .438 (7/16").

SL402 toilet partition

Hinges are manufactured from extruded aluminum 6463-T5 alloy with self-lubricating nylon bearings, 1/4" 303 stainless steel self-closing pin assembly and removable roll pin for spring loaded adjustment. Exterior barrel diameter .515 (1/2"), material thickness less than .125" and material weight no less than 1.5 lbs. per foot. Adjustable, tamper resistant Torx™ head end caps.

Length

Hinge lengths available in 79", 83", 85", 95", and 119" (excluding Toilet Partition hinges).  SELECT hinges are normally 1" shorter than actual opening height.  Custom lengths available.  The SL402 Toilet Partition hinge is available in 54".  The SL902 Toilet Partition hinge is available in 54" and 57".  The SL121 and SL122 Toilet Partition hinges are available in 54.5".

Load/Frequency Rating

Unless otherwise noted, all SELECT brand Pin & Barrel Continuous Hinges are designed for medium-frequency doors up to 400 lb. or low-frequency doors up to 600 lb.  (4 ft. maximum door width).

SL200 hinges meet ANSI/BHMA Standard A 156.26 Grade 2 .

SL300 series hinges shall meet ANSI/BHMA Standard A 156.26 Grade 1 .

Finishes

SL200

Standard carbon steel hinges are primed in gray powder coat.

SL300 series

All stainless steel hinges are stocked in 304 S.S. No. 4 (US 32D) Satin finish.

SL402

Standard aluminum hinges have a Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Clear Architectural Class II finish.

Custom finishes, including painted and polished, are available. NOTE: Product painted in the field voids the SELECT hinge warranty.

Fire rating

3-hr. Underwriters Laboratories rating without fire pins or studs, tested to meet the Positive pressure requirements of UL10C, and in accordance with UBC 7.2 (1997).  Standard on all SELECT Pin & Barrel Continuous Hinges except Toilet Partition hinges.

Warranty

All pin & barrel hinges are covered by a 25-year warranty to be free of defects in material and workmanship.

Additional notes

Conventional overhead surface or concealed sliding overhead or floor closers may be used with SELECT hinges. Pivot-type floor closers (with fixed, conflicting center pivot) must be replaced.

All uncut SELECT geared continuous hinges are non-handed.  Use same model for both right- and left-hand openings.  The SL11, SL21, SL27, SL38, SL40, SL57 and SL60/62 remain unhanded after cutting.  For all other models:  After cutting, the handed hinge must be installed with the cut end on the bottom.

Pin and barrel continuous hinges should not be cut in the field.
